Question: What is Streetdance? Listen to Answer >> (Opens New Window)Answer: Streetdance is a culmination of the latest hip-hop, pop and RnB moves, brought together in choreographed routines. The beauty of streetdance is that it doesn't matter how old or young you are, you can pick it up and have a go at any stage, age or ability. If you think of a fusion of Ne-Yo, Beyonce, Chris Brown and Usher and imagine the choreography that might arise, then you have some idea of what streetdance is all about. Today there are many excellent Street Dance crews such as Diversity, Flawless and Nemesis to name a few.Press PLAY to Listen >> ====================================================

Question: Do I have to be a professional dancer to attend the 6 day Street Dance Teacher Training programme? Listen to Answer >> (Opens New Window)Answer: No. We get a variety of people with varying backgrounds
join our 6 day programme. Last year we had students attend who came from Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, Salsa, Tap, Modern and Pole dancing backgrounds. We also had students attend who came from the Fitness industry, who had Exercise to Music qualifications and Aerobics instructor qualifications.
The reason we can take such varying backgrounds is because we expect all graduates to continually develop their skills in Streetdancing regardless of their background after they have completed the programme.
For example, Hayley the Co-founder and trainer of the Street Dance Teacher Training Company has been in the industry for the last 18 years and she still attends classes,
workshops and master classes to ensure her continual development in the Street Dancing field.Press PLAY to Listen >> ====================================================

For example a vest / t-shirt with joggers / tracksuit bottoms and trainers. We would also recommend you bringing a change of top for each day, so that if you are sweaty you can get changed and be comfortable for the theory sections.Press PLAY to Listen >> ====================================================

(The following answer applies to 2011 programmes)
Currently, there is no governing body of Streetdance.
The Streetdance Teacher Training programme certifies you as a Streetdance teacher and you also get a certificate in Neuro-Linguistic Programming at foundation level.
The fact that you are certified means you can get public liability insurance, as a lot of insurance companies will not insure you to teach unless you have been on a training programme. You need to have your public liability in place before teaching the general public.
Also, the company that we use for our public liability offers ours graduates a heavily discounted rate for the year.
With regards to putting letters after your name, you could definitely use the Streetdance Teacher Training Co. logo on any marketing material and also state that you are a "Street Dance Teacher Training Company Certified Streetdance Teacher". This would definitely help you stand out from non-certified teacher, as we are the specialists in training Streetdance teachers and are establishing an excellent reputation.Press PLAY to Listen >> ====================================================

That is why we have set up the Streetdance Teacher Training Company to ensure Streetdance teachers have the skills and training they need to run excellent Streetdance classes.
Our certification programme is recognised by an international insurance company and once you are a certified STTC teacher you will be able to get
your public liability insurance with them.
